To learn about Gender Equality in India, we need to look at Gender Inequality in India. It is a clearly known fact that gender bias exists in our country. The scenarios around the world related to Gender Equality can be understood by the following statement," Gender equality in work is not possible without gender equality in society." The society needs to accept women as an equal workforce just like their male counterparts and as per the research conducted in the last few years suggests that  women’s workforce participation in India is going down. In 2004-05, the share of working-age women in paid jobs was 43%–the same as in 1993-94. This  dropped to 27%  in 2015-16. We are living in the 21st Century, the world is changing rapidly without taking any break and with the world the bias towards a specific gender is also decreasing. The debate about Gender Equality is not a new thing and is happening from a very long time. So let us answer the main question which is, What is Gender Equality?  Gender equality  is the state of equal access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender including economic participation and decision-making and the state of valuing different behaviors, aspirations and needs equally .                                      Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
