Gender Equality- Definitions and Concept

We are living in the 21st Century, the world is changing rapidly without taking any break and with the world the bias towards a specific gender is also decreasing. The debate about Gender Equality is not a new thing and is happening from a very long time. So let us answer the main question which is, What is Gender Equality? Gender equality is the state of equal access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender including economic participation and decision-making and the state of valuing different behaviors, aspirations and needs equally.

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.Gender equality is the goal, while gender neutrality and gender equity are practices and ways of thinking that help in achieving the goal. However, similar to all the other concepts gender equality can be used in different ways and can convey different meanings. Gender equality might mean that women and men should be treated equally or differently. For example, it may imply that women and men should be paid the same for doing the same work.

Gender Equality also plays a major role in equating the society where both men and women can coexist in a cordial and professional way with both holding prominent positions in their respective fields.
